Anita started riding in Zambia at the age of 9. Three years later she moved to Gauteng SA and managed to integrate herself with a riding school where she worked riding school and rescue ponies. She soon graduated to backing young thoroughbreds for the racing industry, riding over 15 young horses a day in school holidays and assisted in backing over 50 racehorses per season.

This experience of backing young racehorses continued for many years and the owners gradually started to give her some of their horses when they finished their racing career.

Anita started competing in her later teens in dressage and show jumping but was soon introduced to 3-phase eventing by Rick Minett.

Her passion for eventing was born. During this same period assisted her in producing horses up the grades in eventing to open and “Star” classes.

Anita has formed a close relationship with Voightskirch Stud in Namibia and has backed and trained over 30 of their youngsters, whist keeping competing a few herself.

Anita has owned and managed “Bayernhof Stables”, a livery yard which hosts around 30 horses, for over 3 decades and take daily pleasure in keeping a calm, restful place for all levels of horses.

She does still compete in eventing open classes; Show jumps up to 1.20m and competes in dressage competitions up to elementary level.
